Mr. Washy owner John Lausch

When serial entrepreneur John Lausch saw a gap in his community, he set out to create something practical and impactful. In Santa Fe, Texas, families needed more than just a laundromat—they needed convenience. John envisioned a modern laundry service that went beyond washing machines and dryers, offering customers new ways to save time.

To bring his idea to life, Lausch turned to the Galveston County Small Business Development Center (SBDC). With the guidance of Director and Business Advisor Amy Reid, he worked through the complexities of starting up: lease negotiations, financial planning, and creating multiple revenue streams. Together, they crafted a plan that not only secured funding but also positioned the business for long-term success.

The SBDC was with me through every step. They didn’t just help me open a laundromat—they helped me build something meaningful for my community.

One of Lausch’s most innovative moves was partnering with mobile app delivery services to offer laundry pickup and delivery. This unique service quickly became a hit with busy families who needed flexibility and reliability. Along the way, the laundromat created four new jobs and delivered a much-needed service to the community.

Looking back, Lausch credits the SBDC’s support for helping him navigate every twist and turn of entrepreneurship:

"The SBDC was with me through every step. They didn’t just help me open a laundromat—they helped me build something meaningful for my community."

Today, Mr. Washy Laundromat stands as a modern, innovative business that makes life easier for local families while contributing to job creation and community growth. Watch Lausch’s video testimonial to hear him share his journey, from idea to impact, and how the SBDC helped turn his vision into reality.
