The University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast Small Business Development Center Network continues to perform at the top of our SBDC peer group nationally and is one of the largest business assistance provider in the state of Texas. Our Network has 14 centers throughout southeast Texas that provides no-cost business advising, low-cost training services and resources to help new and growing businesses succeed. The SBDC advising staff can assist entrepreneurs and small business owners in various stages of the business life cycle: pre-venture or early stage, startup, expansion, growth an exit.
In 2020, the SBDC produced 347 free business webinars (Live and Pre-recorded) on a broad range of business and COVID-19 related topics; and the total number of webinar attendees were 8,708. SBDC’s crisis-equipped advisors also consulted 5,223 business clients, helped start 186 new businesses, create 3,832 jobs and retain 1,707 jobs. SBDC advisors also assisted with 452 loans and helped secure $208.3 Million in capital.
