Sweets by Belen Celebrates 10 Years of Sharing Peruvian Tradition in Houston
For the past decade, Sweets by Belen has been serving more than pastries and empanadas—it's been sharing the rich flavors, traditions, and culture of Peru with the Houston community.
Founded by Belén Bailey, the Afro-Latina, woman-owned business is celebrating 10 years of entrepreneurship and steady growth. What began as a passion for authentic Peruvian baking has evolved into a thriving business with locations in Houston and Katy, where customers enjoy handcrafted pastries, empanadas, and other Latin specialties made with traditional recipes and care.
As the business expanded, Bailey partnered with the Houston Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to strengthen and grow her operations. Working with Houston SBDC Business Advisor Erica Magallon, she received strategic guidance to help navigate the challenges of business ownership while building a strong foundation for long-term success.
Over the years, Bailey has remained committed to delivering high-quality products, preserving her cultural heritage, and creating memorable experiences for her customers. Her dedication to consistency, craftsmanship, and community has helped Sweets by Belen earn a loyal following throughout the Houston area.
