When Jason Burleson set out to transform Mammoth Lake Texas into a premier destination for divers, first responders, veterans, and outdoor enthusiasts, he knew bringing that vision to life would require strategic planning, persistence, and the right support.

With guidance from the Brazosport College Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Burleson strengthened his business foundation, identified growth opportunities, and developed strategies to expand Mammoth Lake Texas and Mammoth Dive Academy. Through one-on-one business advising, he gained the resources and direction needed to navigate challenges and continue growing the business.

Burleson's efforts were recently recognized when he was named the 2026 U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Houston District Rural Business Owner of the Year, honoring his entrepreneurial leadership and the impact of Mammoth Lake Texas on the region.

"The success of Mammoth Lake Texas and Mammoth Dive Academy would not have been possible without the guidance, support, and dedication of Jennifer Finney and the Small Business Development Center team," said Burleson. "Jennifer consistently provided valuable insight, strategic advice, and access to resources that helped us navigate challenges, identify growth opportunities, and strengthen our business operations. Her commitment to small business success played a significant role in our continued growth and ultimately contributed to our recognition as the SBA Houston District Rural Entrepreneur of the Year."
