Access to capital is critical for starting, sustaining, and growing a small business. This informative session will provide an overview of SBA-backed loan programs and what lenders look for when evaluating financing requests. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the 5 C’s of Credit, how to prepare to approach a lender, and how to identify SBA-approved lenders. The workshop will also highlight valuable local and national resources designed to help small businesses become loan-ready and successfully secure funding.

This session is intended for aspiring entrepreneurs, startup businesses, and existing small business owners seeking financing to launch, stabilize, or expand their operations.

Satisfactory meeting room temperatures are difficult to maintain. Always bring a sweater or jacket to ensure comfort.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the workshop.

Winston Labbé

With more than 25 years of experience in commercial lending and economic development, Winston has dedicated his career to helping entrepreneurs access capital and grow their businesses. A Houston native, he earned a finance degree with honors from Texas Southern University and holds an associate degree in real estate from Houston Community College. He also served four years on active duty in the U.S. Army, shaping the disciplined, strategic approach he brings to his work.

Winston currently serves as Deputy District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Houston District Office, where he connects small business owners with funding, resources, and mentorship. Previously, he held senior banking leadership roles, including Chief Lending Officer at a community bank specializing in SBA, commercial, and real estate lending. He remains active in the community and is a strong advocate for equitable access to business capital and education.
