Presenter(s):

Valeria Bisceglia

Valeria is an advocate for efficiency, streamlining, and fostering positive cultures that enrich the business environment. As a strategist, she is a trusted advisor and go-to resource in the community, helping businesses build their capacity for sustainable growth by encouraging the creation and support of viable organizational practices.

Although not her primary focus, Valeria holds a CompTIA Security+ certification and has been supporting business owners at the CT SBDC with cybersecurity concerns for the past four years. She also has a background in technology and technology implementation in small business environments.

Valeria holds a degree in Business Management Studies from the University of Cambridge, a degree in Chemical Engineering from the same institution, and a Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, with a concentration in Social Innovation and Impact.

Jacob Blacksten

Jake is a University of Delaware graduate, holding a BS in Finance and Management Information Systems, an MBA, a MS in Cybersecurity, and an MS in Business Analytics & Information Management. He began his career as a Digital Forensic Consultant at Stroz Friedberg, where he conducted forensic preservation and analysis for organizations.

As the Digital Solutions Manager at the Delaware SBDC, Jake advised clients in cybersecurity, IT management, and more. He launched cybersecurity education programs—most notably the North Star Cybersecurity Program—reaching small businesses across the U.S. One of his initiatives was recognized by NIST as a best practice. 

In his current role as a Senior Specialist in Security Awareness at Jack Henry, Jake develops security training and trains executive teams on targeted cyber threats. He lends his expertise as an adjunct instructor at the University of Delaware. Jake holds certifications including the CISSP, SANS GCFE and SANS GCSE and was named the 2024 Visionary Security Awareness Program Leader. 

Scott Taber

Scott is a cybersecurity professional passionate about raising awareness of everyday cyber threats and trends. With his time at the Michigan SBDC, he has spoken on small business cybersecurity all throughout Michigan and has presented on numerous cybersecurity topics at state and national conferences and events. Scott has a passion to help keep small businesses safe and secure from cyber threats. 

Prior to joining the Michigan SBDC, Scott served as an IT Security Analyst at Ferris State University. As an IT Security Analyst, he managed full disk encryption, mobile device management, Office365 security policies, and provided security awareness training through multiple platforms. He has assisted with incident response, vulnerability and risk assessments, data loss prevention, and data security access.
