This beginner-friendly, hands-on session is perfect for small business owners ready to start selling online. You will learn how to build and launch a simple, functional online store using WooCommerce right from your existing WordPress site.

Highlights:

  • How to install and configure WooCommerce
  • How to add and manage products
  • How to customize the shop, cart, and checkout pages
  • How to set up payments, shipping, and taxes
  • How to test your store with a sample order
  • How to explore popular add-ons and extensions to enhance your store

This is a beginner-level course, ideal for small business owners who are new to e-commerce and want to start selling physical or digital products online.**

**Before class, participants must have:

  • A WordPress website that was set up through a hosting provider like GoDaddy, SiteGround, Bluehost, etc. If using WordPress, it must be the full version of WordPress installed through a hosting provider. WordPress.com accounts will not work for this class.
  • Administrator login access to your WordPress dashboard
  • A product or service idea you would like to sell
  • An account with a payment processor like PayPal or Stripe. This is recommended so you can fully test your checkout process in class. Both are free to set up and work seamlessly with WooCommerce.

Please note: We will not cover how to install WordPress, purchase hosting, or register a domain. Participants should already have a working WordPress site they can access during class.

Lunch provided. If you register after 7 a.m. CT on October 7, 2025, you will receive a Turkey Sandwich.

Please Note:

No one will be admitted to computer workshops later than 10 minutes past the start time. 

This training is conducted on PC computers - MAC computers are not used.

Please do not bring your laptops as we cannot offer assistance using them and the exercises used during the workshop cannot be loaded to personal laptops. Each participant will have a PC computer to work on during the workshop.

Each person attending an event must have their own account. Multiple people may not register under one account.

The SBDC reserves the right to cancel a class for insufficient enrollment, weather emergencies, and other unforeseen circumstances. Should a cancellation occur, we will use the email you provided to contact you.

Preregistration is highly recommended. If an event is canceled or postponed and you have not preregistered, we will not be able to contact you.

If you choose to register at the door, you will need your mobile device to complete your registration otherwise you will not be allowed to attend.

Satisfactory meeting room temperatures are difficult to maintain. Always bring a sweater or jacket to ensure comfort.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the workshop.

Only service animals allowed - If you need to bring a service animal with you to a workshop please contact us ahead of time.
