Employee vs. Independent Contractor | What the Employer Needs to Know | San Jacinto College SBDC

As a business owner, classifying employees and independent contractors incorrectly can result in your business owing additional taxes and can trigger penalties for overtime wages, or even regular wages owed. During this session, we will discuss the final ruling from the Department of Labor for how to classify a worker as an independent contractor or employee. Enforcement of this rule began on March 11, 2024. If you use independent contractors in your business, register now and learn how to protect your business in this complicated employment law issue.
