HMSDC - Minority-Owned Business Certification

Join representatives from the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC) as they discuss the benefits of being certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), the detailed certification process, and how to leverage HMSDC certification to become certified by other organizations. 

The HMSDC (Houston Minority Supplier Development Council) is the certifying organization for minority-owned businesses** interested in doing business with Houston's major corporations. The Council's certification is accepted by most major corporations, the City of Houston, the Houston Independent School District, State of Texas (HUB) Program and the Port of Houston Authority.  HMSDC provides minority firms with assistance to achieve a certain business posture so that they can compete effectively in the economic main stream.  Minority firms that are 51% owned, managed and controlled by an ethnic minority and who are a US citizen are eligible to participate.

** The controlling interest in a firm represented to be minority shall be by one or more CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA who are Black having origins in any black racial groups of Africa (not of Hispanic origin), Hispanic whose origin is from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America, or Hispanic cultures or descents, Asian/Pacific Islanders whose origin is from Japan, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, Samoa, Guam, U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific, Northern Marianas, Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and Native American having origins in any of the American/Alaskan Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, and Native Hawaiians. All American/Alaskan Indians must be documented members of a federally recognized tribal entity.

Satisfactory meeting room temperatures are difficult to maintain.  Always bring a sweater or jacket to ensure comfort.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the workshop.
