Target Audience:  This workshop is required for new clients that have submitted an application for PTAC services.  If you have not submitted an application visit the website below prior to attending the workshop to complete the online application.  Select the link “Application” to start the process.

Workshop Description:
The workshop provides you the foundational information for doing business with government to get you started in the right direction.  You will learn:

  • How industry codes are used in government procurement and how to select your codes;
  • About social and economically-disadvantaged certification programs for minorities, women, and persons with disabilities you may be eligible for with Federal, State, and Local Government and how they can help you win government prime contracts and subcontracts;
  • How our Three “R”s of Government Contracting Program – Register, Research, and Respond provides you a structured process to educate and guide you on doing business with government; and
  • Why the SBDC and PTAC are valuable resources providing you no-cost advisory services to help you grow your business commercially and with government contracts.

All new PTAC applicants are required to attend this workshop as the first step after you submit an application.  If you believe you have an exception to attending the workshop contact us at 713-752-8477.

Learning Objective:  This workshop will provide you information to help you understand how government does business and prepare you for your one-on-one meeting with your advisor.
