Creating a Wix.com Website

Wix.com is a leading cloud-based development platform with millions of users worldwide. With the Wix website builder you can create a beautiful and professional web presence to promote your business, showcase your art, set up an online shop or just test out new ideas. It is one of the top do-it-yourself “web design and build” tools available. In this interactive and hands-on session you will actually design and build a simple site you can call your own.

Part 1 (9:00 – 10:30 am)

• Set clear web site goals for your business
• Create a site map and determine your visual style
• Incorporate the “9 Website Must Haves”
• Understand DIY website terms and jargon
• Compare DIY web building tools: Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, Wordpress, and eCommerce apps

Part 2 (10:30 am – Noon)

• How to select and where to register a domain name/URL for your site
• How to select the right hosting plan and begin creating with Wix
• Find the right Wix template design for your site
• Transform the template with 3 key tools:  color palette, images, and content 
• Construct your site with the right keywords to boost search engine rankings

Prerequisite:

Please create your Wix account before class.  Visit http://www.wix.com and click on Start Now (in the middle of the page).  Make sure to bring your login information to class.

Please Note:

This training is conducted on PC computers - MAC computers are not used.

Please do not bring your MAC laptops as we cannot offer assistance using them.

Satisfactory meeting room temperatures are difficult to maintain.  Always bring a sweater or jacket to ensure comfort.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the workshop.

Only service animals allowed - If you need to bring a service animal with you to a workshop please contact us ahead of time.
